Practical Guide to Food Waste Disposal and Reduction
This course offers a one-day training program with the aim of preparing participants to have the practical knowledge and skills of proper food waste management and disposal. The course is a combination of theory and practice that will give the participants a better understanding of establishing the different categories of food preparation, factors contributing to spoilage, proper waste disposal procedures, and proper equipment usage in ensuring the production of high-quality food and minimising waste. By the end of this course, the attendees will be better equipped to contribute to helping the F&B operations in achieving a zero-waste industry.
The primary aim of this course is to enable learners working in F&B operations to have the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to implement efficient food waste disposal and reduction.
At the end of the course, participants will be able to demonstrate knowledge/skills on the following:•Identify the food preparation categories for food items.
•Describe the different preventive measures to ensure food-safe handling.
•Explain reasons for common food spoilage.
•State the importance of recycling and eco-friendly features of food waste management.
•Describe the correct food waste disposal procedures to prevent food contamination.
•Describe the proper usage of equipment to process food waste.
